News/Media: on City of San José Services and/or Operations Check the "When deleting a post, delete translations as well" optionĪfter that, when you remove an image (or posts), the translations will also be removed. The following is information about the City of San José’s response to slow and reduce the spread of COVID-19 and support of an equitable recovery to a “Better Normal.”Ĭarolina Camarena / Vicki Day, City of San José Media Line: 40Ĭity of San José Customer Contact Center: 3-1-1 or 40 Click on the WPML > Translation Management > Multilingual Content Setup > Posts and pages synchronization If you want to remove the image in the default language and automatically remove it in the secondary languages, you must follow the steps below: If you delete the image in one language, it will remain in the other languages, this is also expected. When you add an image, WPML Media will create a record in the database for each language. Is there any way to streamline the removal of media items as described above? It seems to me that as the vast majority of images are not language specific, this new setup seems to be too focused on the few cases where you might need to display a different image by language and has not been properly realised for the many instances where that isn't the case. What's needed is an option to delete all versions of the image or file at the same time - just like the option to make new images available in all languages, but for deletion. To do the same thing now, I have to go through the library in every language and delete Wellness.pdf before uploading the new version - or I have to upload the new pdf with a different name and go round and amend all the links in the site.
That can't be right.įor example, previously if I uploaded a pdf called "Wellness.pdf" and link to that pdf from a page on the website, to update that pdf, I would simply delete Wellness.pdf from the library and upload the new pdf, also called Wellness.pdf and hey presto, all the page links keep working and the new pdf is displayed to visitors. To remove it from the other libraries, I have to switch language and delete it from each language's library one language at a time. However, if I delete the image or pdf, it is only removed from the media library in the language I have selected. If I upload an image or a pdf, it is now visible in the media library for all languages. Thanks for the reply, but this still doesn't really work. Is there a similar example that we can see? See screenshot Is there any documentation that you are following? but it hasn't helped What settings should I choose in WPML/Settings/Media Translation (or elsewhere) so that the media library works as before, with all items available in all languages, and no duplication of images, pdfs, etc for each language. I have 125 items in Spanish and only 5 in English, French and Catalan. I have touched nothing, yet now the media in the library is only visible in certain languages. The recent update that includes the alert "WPML needs to set languages to existing media in your site." is making my life a misery.
